L Is for Lollygag by Chronicle Books Staff

L Is for Lollygag: Quirky Words for a Clever Tongue, by Chronicle Books Staff, reviewed by Tanya Grunwell, Hoyt Library
(Chronicle Books, 2008, 128 pages, $12.99)
Recommended for ages 9-12

Would you like to spice up your vocabulary? Maybe, like me, you just find words interesting. Challenge your friends and family with the oodles of words in this humdinger of a dictionary! Not your ordinary dictionary, mind you, but an alphabetical collection of quirky words. A is for “amok,” B is for “behoove,” C is for “cahoots,” and on and on it goes. Don’t be a curmudgeon and dillydally, be a whippersnapper and swagger over yonder to your library or bookstore now! Indubitably this book is a must read for word lovers everywhere.
