Kiss My Math by Danica Mckellar
Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-algebra Who’s Boss, by Danica Mckellar, reviewd by Deborah Trombley Butman-Fish Reference and YA Librarian
(Hudson Street Press, 2008, 335 pages, $24.95)
Recommended for grades 6 and up.
Just in time for the new school year, a lightweight approach to math. It’s directed at girls but I think anyone that suffers from math angst would enjoy browsing this book. Especially entertaining are the entries called Danica’s Diary, which are true stories from the author’s life as a student, actress and mathematician. McKellar even includes her email address for readers to share their stories. Last year she wrote “Math doesn’t Suck : How to Survive Middle School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail.”
