The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch with Jeffrey Zaslow, reviewed by Brenda Rodammer, Information Technologist, Hoyt Library
(Hyperion ,2008, 224 pages, $21.95)
A common tradition in many universities is to have professors deliver a lecture that centers around their demise. What words of wisdom would they give to the students if this was their last chance? Randy Pausch delivered such a lecture, only he didn’t need to pretend. He had been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer told he had 3 to 6 months to live. His lecture, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” was about living and how to do it well.
This book is both an explanation and culmination of his lecture. You will find yourself drawn into his world, and come to know both him and his family. He is truly an inspiration as well as a great motivator. The advice and wisdom he imparts in this book will have you evaluating your own life and what is truly precious to you.
