Chester by Melanie Watt
Chester, by Melanie Watt, reviewed by Laura Pache, Butman-Fish Library Children’s Librarian.
(Kids Can Press, 2007, $16.95, unpaged)
Recommended for children 4-8 years
Author Melanie Watt is trying to write a story about a cute little mouse, but Chester her cat keeps interrupting. Chester is really bad: he smirks, colors on the walls, and keeps on trying to end the mouse story by writing a story about himself. The author gets her comeback by introducing a dog with teeth, interrupting Chester’s story and putting Chester in a pink tutu! By using two color fonts we see the duel between the author and her cat. Kids and cat lovers will like this entertaining book.
