Bye Bye Crib by Alison McGhee
Bye Bye Crib, by Alison McGhee, reviewed by Kathy Thornhill, Children’s Librarian, Zauel Memorial Library (Simon & Schuster, 2008 unpaged $16.99)
Recommended for preschool-1st grade.
Our narrator is a big boy now—no bottles, or diapers, with lots of muscles. He is reluctant to graduate from his crib into. . .The Big Boy Bed. He and stuffed Baby Kitty are tough, but “not every big boy wants to sleep in a big bed.” He realizes it’s time when Pillow and Blanket prove the big bed is not a monster bed. He and Baby Kitty make the leap, hand-in-paw.
Author and illustrator make what might be a ho-hum tale of a rite of passage into a grand adventure.
