Arabella Miller's Tiny Caterpillar by Clare Jarrett

Arabella Miller’s Tiny Caterpillar, by Clare Jarrett, reviewed by Lee Anne Haupricht, Butman-Fish Library
(Candlewick Press, 2008, $16.99, unpaged)
Recommended for children 4 to 7

On a spring day, little Arabella Miller finds a tiny caterpillar. She makes a home for it out of a shoe box and feeds it leaves, curly cabbage and frizzy parsley. Arabella watches it grow into a beautiful butterfly. This sweet story has colorful illustrations that are just right for preschoolers. It’s a fun way for young readers to learn the life cycle of the butterfly.
