Spooky Michigan by S.E. Schlosser

Spooky Michigan : Tales of Hauntings, Strange Happenings, and Other Local Lore, retold by S.E. Schlosser, reviewed by Jeanine Collison, Reference/Business Librarian, Hoyt Main Library
(Globe Pequot, 2007, 200 pages , $12.95)

With Halloween just around the corner, gather some friends around the fire and enjoy this delightful “spooky” book of thirty Michigan ghostly tales. Beneath the title of each story, is the name of the Michigan city where it originated from (25 cities in all). Because Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes, many of the tales involve ships, shipwrecks, and fisherman legends. Schlosser is a master storyteller, and the stories are short, perfect for all ages, and just scary enough to give everyone little chills up their spine.

Have fun with this collection of shivery tales on an eerie October evening!
