Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt

Scaredy Squirrel, by Melanie Watt, reviewed by Neica Dey Hoyt Library, Children’s Department
(Kids Can Press, 2006, $14.95, 40 pages)
Recommended for ages 4-8

Scaredy Squirrel worries about everything including but not limited to green Martians, killer bees, tarantulas, poison ivy, germs, and sharks. This delightful tongue-in-cheek tale will help those children who know fear all too well.

The charming little protagonist lives safely in his tree and never ever leaves it. However, his lifestyle has disadvantages – it is boring! To busy himself Scaredy Squirrel prepares for the unexpected by stocking an emergency kit and preparing an exit plan. Will he be forced to use these tactics?

Laugh-out-loud text and illustrations make this book a gem to share with your own scaredy squirrel.
