Enough by Juan Williams
Enough: The phony leaders, dead-end movements, and culture of failure that are undermining Black America—and what we can do about it, by Juan Williams, reviewed by Gail Parsons
(Crown, 2006, 243 pages, $25.00)
Inspired by Bill Cosby, Juan Williams, renowned NPR correspondent and Fox News political analyst, has written a provocative, well-researched book sure to inspire strong feelings. Williams examines Cosby’s controversial speeches that decry a “culture of failure” and call for a rededication to self-empowerment. Though he agrees racism is not dead, Williams laments what he terms a waste of civil rights heroes’ sacrifices of the 50’s and 60’s on a culture that has turned its back on traditional black family values and the encouragement of the pursuit of high academic achievement. He also offers a “recipe for success” that makes sense for all Americans.
