Poems selected by Jack Prelutsky.Illustrated by Meilo So. Reviewed by Laura Pache, Children’s Librarian Butman-Fish Branch
(Alfred A. Knopf, 2005, $16.95, 23 pages) Ages 8-10

In this colorful poetry book Prelutsky has selected a variety of poems on ten different themes. Each theme has 3 selected poems and a poemstart to help young children create their own poem. A poemstart is a poem that Prelutsky has begun with four or more lines and then leaves unfinished for the children to continue. Each poemstart includes hints on, how the poem might continue, a list of rhyming words or other ideas about the theme. The illustrations are an added bonus to this creative book.
