You'll Never Nanny in This Town Again by Suzanne Hansen

You’ll Never Nanny in This Town Again: the True Adventures of a Hollywood Nanny, by Suzanne Hansen, reviewed by Kate Tesdell
Hoyt Library
Crown Publishers, 2005, $22.00, 315 pages
ISBN: 0-307-23754-0

Suzy, a naïve 19 yr. old, thinks nothing will be as exotic as caring for the children of famous Hollywood agent Michael Orvitz. Her journey from optimism to burn-out is by turns hilarious, humiliating and depressing.

Hansen is surrounded by stars, but struggles with an exhausting job in which she feels unappreciated. When she quits, Orvitz is furious and blackballs her with his celebrity friends. Eventually she works for Debra Winger, and later for Rhea Perlman before deciding to change careers.

Hansen’s adventures in Hollywood and her affection for the children she nannies make for a tantalizing look into a world most of us will never know.
